Carelife Medical and its staff, led by our Senior Medical Director, Dr. Fatima Aziz, has been at the forefront of Covid-19 evaluations, testing and management since the development of the pandemic. The overseeing medical team is highly-qualified and experienced in #Covid19 related medical evaluation and clinical research and in providing Hospital-based Internal Medicine and Primary Care.

Covid-19 is an ongoing pandemic and is highly contagious. Serial monitoring of exposure, symptoms and testing is required to properly track the onset and spread of disease. Strict precautions must be taken as per CDC and state guidelines. This includes physical distancing of at least 6 feet, masking when indoors (and in public areas) or when around others who are not living under the same roof, frequent hand washing or sanitizing, and airing out closed areas (for example, cars, homes, and other rooms).

Covid-19 is caused by SARS-CoV-2 of the Coronavirus family and has various strains. It can present with different symptoms; including (but not limited to): fever, cough, difficulty breathing, fatigue, loss of or change in taste or smell, body aches, nausea, diarrhea, confusion (specially in the elderly), chest pain (specially if a person has a history of heart disease). Symptoms can develop within 2-7 days of exposure. Testing can miss the diagnosis if done too soon or may require repeat testing to verify if clinical suspicion is high.

Some of the tests for SARS-CoV-2 are Nasal Swab for PCR, Nasal Swab for Antigen, Blood sample for Antibodies. These tests and all current treatments for Covid-19 are approved under pandemic conditions to be used by Healthcare Providers and as per FDA Emergency Use Authorization.

Depending on test type, results can be available the same day (rapid antigen or antibody) or within 2-3 days (PCR). Most travel related (or for official purposes) require the PCR test. The PCR tests are sent to and processed in a molecular lab. Results from the PCR can take up to 3 days; sometimes expedited requests can be made, but generally take one day. Carelife Medical is also in the process of obtaining rapid PCR for onsite use with results within 1-2 hours; however, at this time, there is limited availability.

If you are a business or an organization requiring testing for your employees or members, Carelife Medical's staff can also provide services at your location. Please contact the office directly to coordinate arrangements.

The general charge for PCR is $179 per evaluation (this charge does not apply to expedited requests or rapid PCR). Some insurances will cover IF the person is symptomatic or there has been definite exposure. Please confirm with your insurance. Carelife Medical is NOT responsible for coordinating with your insurance. HSA and similar health saving plans can be used. Those without insurance may qualify for coverage under CARES Act. Carelife Medical is not a participant of the CARES ACT at the moment; however, it works with lab entities to provide this added support.

Rapid Antigen or Antibody is generally $99 per evaluation.

Carelife Medical strongly advises obtaining the SARS-CoV-2 Vaccine as per current CDC Guidelines.

Carelife Medical is a private practice and is not part of the Health Department or any other governmental agency.
